We decided on the theme for our project, which is mainly recycling.
What?
Things to be recycled
1. Paper (eg. Used writing paper, noticeboard paper, scraps of paper left from craftwork)
2. Cardboard (eg. From boxes, from backing of foolscap paper)
3. Plastic (eg. Used to wrap books, files)

Who?
Pupils in our school. Every class would have to contribute, and the most active class would win prizes.

Where?
Collected recycled items from each class would be deposited in the 3 recycling boxes in their classroom and at the end of each month, brought down in recycled bags (garbage bags, yellow bags, ntuc plastic bags etc.) to the eagles nest where student councillors would start their judging.

When?
This will be held monthly to ensure that students are aware of recycling used things throughout the year.
Why?
The project will teach students certain life skills such as teamwork. Students would be able to lend a helping hand towards protecting our planet and better understand the importance of doing their part for a common goal. With this in mind, later on in their lives, the students would continue saving the earth with small gestures such as recycling a single piece of paper. It is to increase the alertness of the student for the damage the Earth can receive if things are not being recycled and to emphasize on the need to save the Earth from further destruction by recycling things.
How?
This would be the most crucial part.
To entice the pupils in our school to participate actively in this project, prizes (cash and class points) would be awarded to classes who perform exceptionally well.
This would be graded accordingly to the amount of materials each class manages to recycle and how the classes make use of their recycled materials. ( like recycling cardboard to make pencil holders etc.)
Based on the creativity and usefulness of their end-products made from the recycled materials, the classes would be awarded champion, 1st runner up and 2nd runner-up, and earn points for their classes. This competition will bring out the creativity in the students. These products can then be displayed to show others how recycled items can be transformed to beautiful works of art, and this in turn will let others know that recycling can not only save the earth, but can also benefit themselves in other ways.
Stuff that cannot be easily recycled like plastic, will be given to the school to be sold to recycling factories to raise funds which can be used for class activities, or other things.
In this way, we will be helping to conserve the earth's resources. Even though our project will not greatly affect global warming and other natural events caused by it in any way, we know we have done our part. :D

Need for school effort
These actions require a school effort as only by a school we then will able to save the Earth from further pollution by recycling things as by a school we can do significantly more than only a person or a small group of people putting in effort to recycle things.
Ways to advertise to students
We can distribute flyers to students to inform them about this event.
Inter-class competition can be held every term (10 weeks) to determine the winner for the term by weighing the mass of the recycled materials contributed by each class in the each level.
Inter-class competition can even be held every term (10 weeks) for the most decorated recycling bin made by recycled materials and the class with the best design in each respective level will be the winner.
Lecture can be held in the main school hall to educate students on the importance for saving the Earth.
